The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) Animal Welfare Incident Report
Laboratory animals are the foundation for the development of life science research, and animal welfare issues have increasingly gained global attention, marking a sign of human civilization's progress. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) recognizes the importance of protecting the welfare of laboratory animals and has established a reporting channel for animal welfare incidents. According to the "Charter of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)", any personnel at the HKUST (Guangzhou) who discover issues in the care and use of laboratory animals can report them immediately.
The university does not impose restrictions on the identity of welfare incident reporters. In any case, individuals who report such incidents in good faith will not have their status within the institution adversely affected. The university will not take any punitive action against those who report animal welfare incidents in good faith, and the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) will keep the identity of the reporter confidential.
